LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The 2007 Cleveland Golf Pro-Scratch at Angel Park Golf Club will take place Sunday, July 22 (Mountain Course) and Monday, July 23 (Palm Course). Two-person teams comprised of one professional and one scratch amateur will compete in a "one best ball of two" format for a total purse of more than $12,000.
"The Pro-Scratch started out years ago as a reason to get together and have a lot of fun in fabulous Las Vegas," said Kris Strauss, Director of Sales and Marketing for OB Sports Golf Management. "While it still serves that purpose, there is some substantial money on the line and we all get our game faces on. We truly appreciate the support of Cleveland Golf and TI (Treasure Island) for bringing this fun-filled event to the next level."
While the field is primarily made up of golf professionals and amateurs from Southern Nevada, previous events have featured team entries from other western states including California, Arizona, Washington, to name a few. Notable local professionals such as Robert Gamez, Jeremy Anderson and Ed Fryatt have played in past events.
The teams will compete for cash, gift certificates, hole in one prizes and skins throughout the two-day event. Following the first round of play, the top 15 teams that prepay for the Horse Race will have the opportunity to compete in a four-hole shoot-out on the Cloud Nine Short Course. A fun-filled "event within the event" in 1996 the shoot-out featured an exciting hole-in-one from local touring professional Robert Gamez on the first hole.
The team entry fee is $300 and it includes green fees, golf car, unlimited practice balls prior to play, two drink tickets per player, lunch following the first round, continental breakfast prior to final round and tee gift. Teams can register for the 2007 Las Vegas Pro-Scratch by calling 702.254.4653, emailing Ben Buck at bbuck@angelpark.com or registering online www.angelpark.com.
