CENTENNIAL, COLO. (June 6, 2007) – SteppingStones, a Morgantown, W. Va., non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities achieve greater independence, has purchased a SoloRider golf car to help golfers with limited mobility get back in the game. The SoloRider joins the golf car fleet at the Mountaineer Golf Course in Morgantown, where it is available to members of the SteppingStones golf program as well as other golfers in the area.
"There was a strong demand from our organization’s members to add golf to the variety of recreational activities offered through our programs," said Bob Pirner, development officer of SteppingStones. "Since adding the SoloRider, feedback has been extremely positive. My dream is that every course in the country has one."
The SoloRider golf car, which was presented the 2006 Excellence in Achievement Award – New Product of the Year by the Association of Private Clubs and Directors, features ergonomically designed controls and a patented seat that rotates and lifts to help players hit their shots without leaving the comfort and safety of the vehicle. The car’s even weight distribution and advanced suspension system make it not only safe to go on tees and greens without damaging the turf, but also extremely safe for golfers.
"There are 46 million disabled Americans, and approximately five million of them are candidates to play golf," said Roger Pretekin, president of SoloRider. "By making a single-rider golf car available, SteppingStones is helping golfers get back in the game and bringing new players to the sport, which the game desperately needs."
