Golf Tips Media Group announced today that according to a recent report, its flagship publication, Golf Tips Magazine, showed a 12% increase in ad pages for May 2007 as compared to May 2006 and an 11% increase YTD over 2006 pages. This data was reported in a May 2007 analysis published by IMS (Inquiry Management Systems), a company established in 1979 to track ad pages and considered publishing’s equivalent to the Darrell Survey®.
The IMS report also showed an overall market that is down 1% for both May and YTD. Two of the other major national titles had double-digit decreases YTD, putting in perspective the magnitude of the gains realized by Golf Tips. The next closest title, showing a 9% YTD gain in ad pages, was the 2007 Golf Travel Annual, another Golf Tips Media Group Publication.
"We’re obviously pleased with the results of this report, but also humbled by the fact that our industry is struggling overall at a time when it should be flourishing. The game has never had more positive things going for it—affordability and access to quality instruction is higher now then ever before, advances in equipment have made the game more enjoyable and course- grooming has reached new heights. Yes, the game is difficult to master and it takes a significant time commitment, but to the majority of golfers, it’s worth it," said Dave Brennan, Publisher of Golf Tips Media Group.
