LAKE MARY, FL – Larry Durland and Geoff Converse were honored recently for their service throughout the 17-year history of the International Network Of Golf. The announcements took place at the 17th ING Spring Conference at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY.

The International Network Of Golf is a 17-year-old, media-based non-profit association. ING’s mission is to "enhance and promote communication and education in golf." Its primary function is to conduct conferences in which media members and business executives come together to communicate, test products, exchange information and develop and nurture relationships.

Durland, a retired sports writer from Lakeway, TX, was honored for the 10 years he served as chairman of the ING Golf Committee. ING conducts several golf events throughout the year, including the International Pairs World Championship Qualifier each year at the ING Spring Conference. Durland, a champion of ready golf, was especially fond of the ING Scramble Championship held at the conference. So from 2008 forward, the opening day scramble tournament will be known as the Durland Cup.

Converse has served as chair of two different committees, has been an ING Advisory Board member and a member of the governing ING Executive Committee.

He was the first chair of the ING Media Awards Committee, creating the original format for those annual honors. He then took over from Durland as chair of the ING Golf Committee six years ago.

Converse joins Durland and nine others with his selection into the exclusive Diamond Cornerstone Club in recognition of his service. Jay Hubbard, ING President from 2003-2006, was added to the ING Diamond Cornerstone Club in 2006 for his efforts of helping to complete ING’s transition from a privately held entity to non-profit status. Other members of the service recognition group are: Laurie Lee Dovey, Holly Geoghegan, Mark Grody, Rick Jamison, Tim O’Connor, Jack O’Leary, Ed Quigley and Mike Tinkey.

ING just completed its 17th anniversary ING Spring Conference at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY. Three more events are scheduled this year: ING World Amateur Celebration Of Golf Aug. 26-31 in Myrtle Beach; ING Fall Forum Sept. 9-12 at New York-New York Resort Casino in Las Vegas, and the ING Mid-Atlantic Regional Seminar Oct. 29-31 at Sheraton Convention Center Hotel in Atlantic City.
