ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. — (August 20, 2007) – Over the 10 years of its existence, the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association
(GACGA) has made a public pledge to support and promote the overall golf effort in the South Jersey vicinity. Once again, the organization is backing up that pledge with action.
GACGA will sponsor the post-summit dinner on Tuesday night of the third ING Regional Seminar to be held in Atlantic City on October 29, 30 and 31. This will conclude an extremely important day of the three- day event, which includes a historic episode.
The Regional State of Golf Summit will be held Tuesday morning, October 30, at the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel. The president of the New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association, the president of the Eastern Pennsylvania Golf Course Owners Association, the president of the Philadelphia Golf Course Superintendents Association, the executive director of the Philadelphia Section PGA and the executive director of the Golf Association of Philadelphia will all sit on a panel at that summit.
"To pull all of those powerful people in the golf industry together for a panel discussion in front of the region’s golf business people is an impressive task," commented Brian Hoey, GACGA’s marketing director. "We wanted to do our part to support that effort, which is why we are sponsoring the dinner that evening. We hope the communication and networking will continue through the evening. Also, it gives us an opportunity to introduce all of our member courses and explain the services that are available through GACGA."
GACGA represents eight golf properties in South Jersey – Shore Gate GC, Sand Barrens GC, Twisted Dune, Mays Landing Golf and CC, Seaview Resort, Harbor Pines GC, Blue Heron Pines GC and the Links at Brigantine. The main purpose of the organization is to give the public a central agency that will provide information and aid in booking golf throughout South Jersey.
GACGA follows in the footsteps of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority in supporting the Regional Seminar. For the second year, the ACCVA will be presenting sponsor of the event.
It was the involvement of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitor Authority in last year’s ING Regional Seminar, and the support of other groups such as GACGA, that paved the way for Atlantic City to be chosen as the host site for the 2008 ING Spring Conference, a highlight of the business year in the golf community.
The International Network of Golf is a 17-year-old organization dedicated to enhancing communication and education in the golf industry.
The ING Regional Seminar will bring together some of the top minds in all facets of the golf industry for three days of seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions and networking The three days of education and communication will begin with an 18- hole golf tournament at Mays Landing Golf and CC, just west of Atlantic City. Part of the purpose of the fall seminar is to test the Atlantic City area as a host site for a national ING Conference.
"Our annual spring conferences have grown to the point where they are regarded as one of the key events on the annual golf business calendar," said Mike Jamison, executive director of the International Network of Golf. "We have an extremely strong membership in the Mid- Atlantic region and I am overjoyed at the fact that last year’s conference was so successful and it has expanded in its base for this year. There are a lot of critical issues in the golf industry and they need to be addressed at the regional level as well as the national level."
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Golf Seminar is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the golf industry, network with some of its leaders or bring their latest ideas to the media.
Reasonably priced packages for the conference have been arranged through Gary Shea at Golf Vacations (877-320-1991). Also, information is available on the website at www.golfvacations.com/ing.
