Duke Remains Top Team
NEW YORK, NY—The third Golf World/NGCA Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II and III will appear in the October 19 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com.
Duke remains in the number one spot, earning 14 of the 24 first-place votes. The Blue Devils won the Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 5-7) and will next compete in the Stanford Pepsi Women’s Intercollegiate in Palo Alto (Oct. 19-21). Rounding out the top-five are UCLA (No. 2), Southern California (No. 3), Arizona State (No. 4) and Auburn (No. 5).
Tennessee (No. 6) has jumped into the top-10 after being ranked No. 14 in the previous coaches’ poll. The Lady Vols finished second at the Tar Heel Invitational and sixth at last weekend’s Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships.
New to the top-25 are Arkansas (No. 22), Texas A&M (T-25) and Virginia (T-25).
