NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (December 13, 2007) – The 2008 IPAC (International Professional Association of ClubFitters) Expo lineup of speakers will include Gary Loomis, founder of G. Loomis Golf, Inc. Loomis, a leader in the fishing rod industry whose passion for design extends to golf shafts, saw many Tour players using Loomis shafts in the late 1990s.
"Clubfitting techniques are greatly impacted by the engineering and design elements that go into creating golf shafts," said Loomis, who will share design and fitting insights with IPAC Expo attendees.
IPAC will present its second annual IPAC Expo Jan. 14-15 in Orlando, Fla., just prior to the PGA Merchandise Show. Registration for the 2008 IPAC Expo has been extended to Dec. 20. Attendees may register at http://www.ipacgolf.com/layout10.asp?id=566&page=29481
IPAC members and leaders in clubfitting will unite to exchange ideas, learn from the best in the business, test products and enjoy the camaraderie of their colleagues. Clubfitters, golf industry members and anyone interested in learning more about advanced clubfitting techniques are invited to attend and participate in the 2008 Expo.
Speakers at the 2008 IPAC Expo also will include Dr. Jerry Teplitz, author and well-known speaker in the field of holistic health sciences; Dr. Christian H. Reichardt, an expert in golf fitness and conditioning; Clay Long, industry veteran and highly-regarded golf equipment designer; Larry Bodle, former True Temper executive, founder of UST and now a shaft consultant; Steve Benzin, director of fitting and education for KZG; and John Cranston, vice president of sales and marketing for Balance-Certified Golf and a former NASA engineer.
Adam Barr, reporter for The Golf Channel, will present an opening welcome to attendees and guests at the IPAC Awards Dinner, which will take place Tuesday evening, Jan. 15, at the Sheraton Studio City Hotel in Orlando. Barr’s extensive knowledge of golf business, equipment and technology, as well as his relaxed yet insightful on-air presence, have combined to create a loyal following for this broadcaster.
IPAC, a not-for-profit organization, was formed in 2006 with the following goals: 1) to raise the bar for the clubfitting profession by setting guidelines for skill and integrity; 2) to educate the public on what to expect and where to go for a first-rate club fitting; 3) to mentor and educate new men and women who wish to join the profession; and 4) to establish a program for continuing education to maintain the highest standards for the profession.
The IPAC Web site contains a wealth of helpful information to guide golfers as to what to expect in a bona fide fitting and where to go to find a Professional Fitter. Professional Fitters spend years studying and learning their craft. They know clubhead and shaft design, they understand the goals of the golfer and they can analyze data from launch monitors and swing analyzers. True Professionals actually can improve any golfer’s game. Those who have met a specified level of excellence have been admitted into IPAC by their peers of equal skills. For members, the IPAC site offers communication with other members, career postings and information on resources, research and the annual IPAC Expo. Each IPAC member has a page on the Web site listing his facility and contact information, biography, professional credentials and philosophy.
IPAC recognizes and appreciates the aid and support of its Founding Sponsors, including About Golf, Balance-Certified Golf, Explanar, Fit Chip, Henry-Griffitts, JR Mats, KZG, NovaTech Shafts, SK Fiber and Zelocity.
