SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 10, 2008)-Celebrating its third appearance at the PGA Merchandise show, Iconic™ Sport adds to the 2008 line with significant new high-tech fabrications, enhanced color choices, new body styles, and even a foray into the men’s arena. Predicated on a combination of luxury styling combined with performance enhancement, Iconic was one of the first manufacturers to dedicate those efforts in a mainstream women’s golf collection.
Among the latest Iconic additions are a new high tech-tweed pedal pusher, a three-quarter sleeved tee-top with detailed seam treatment, a tulip skirt, and the three-quarter sleeve, "Golightly" shirt. "I was told not everyone would get it," said Iconic Designer and President, Leslie Chow, referring to the "Golightly" name. "But not everyone gets everything, so that’s okay – it’s a reference to Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly character from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The style is a twist on our own "Audrey" shirt, but this one is a boat-neck without the collar, so we kept the Audrey connection."
Known for a sophisticated updating of classic styles, along with their own original prints, Iconic has always had a themed approach and a specific name and raison d’etre behind every style in the line. Most often these names are related to a famed golf course, or an iconic figure symbolic of vogue and elegance, à la Audrey Hepburn.
The new styles, along with the rest of the Iconic assortment, have been grouped into a series of seven distinct collection themes for added emphasis and structure. All styles are constructed in luxury performance fabrics.
The Dead Aim collection includes the Pasatiempo polos, Audrey and Monaco Princess shirts, with periwinkle and tonal Dead Aim print panels, as well as solid shirts and matching bottoms in black, fog, and cobalt. "We did the design for the Dead Aim prints ourselves, hoping it’s going to be our Burberry plaid," said Chow. "The Dead Aim is kind of a target circle, relating to the take dead aim philosophy of Harvey Penick." Also in this group are the unisex Spyglass armwarmers and the Del Sol sunsleeves.
The Fire Collection contains a Pucci-like fire print with an orange/pink/cream combination print panel in the Pasatiempo polos and the Monaco Princess shirts, as well as a solid berry-colored Pasatiempo polo – all with coordinating bottoms in black, and fog. Also included are the unisex Spyglass armwarmers in white, black, bubblegum pink, light pink, and the Del Sol sunsleeves in white and sage.
The Smart Cocktail collection is a grouping of more elegant, dressier items that can definitely do double-duty and be worn stylishly after golf. They include variations on the timeless polo and other more dressier styles: the Olympia cowl neck, the Turnberry Twist, the Audrey shirt in solid white and various color-blockings, the Pasatiempo three-quarter sleeved polo, the Dalat top, and the Golightly pique boat neck, as well as a tulip skirt in iridescent black, iridescent bronze, and grey tweed, a pedalpusher in black, fog, and tweed, the Rita cropped long pant in tweed, and two different skorts.
The Classic collection is primarily a black and white motif, which contains the color-blocked Pasatiempo shirt, Monaco color-tipped shirt, Audrey top, Dalat top, Golightly boat-neck, and the machine washable Ballybunyon poly/merino wool fleece vest. In bottoms, there’s the capri pant in black, and fog, pedalpushers in black, fog, and tweed, a black skort, and the new Rita cropped long pant in black and tweed.
The Jewel tone collection is an assortment of periwinkle and berry solid pique combinations containing the Pasateimpo, Monaco, and Golightly tops with a group of color coordinated bottoms.
The Pretty in Pink collection is a short group of aforementioned tops in a dazzling blush/white color palate. Also included are armwarmers in bubble gum and light pink, Del Sol sunsleeves in white and sage, a pink/white combination houndstooth skort, and complimenting fog-colored capris and pedalpushers.
Stylish But Not Scary Men’s collection. "A lot of guys have mentioned to me that they’d like something more stylish," said Chow. "So we’ve put together two shirts to see how the market responds." The first, the Birkdale, is an updated revival of the classic banded collar shirt, and the second, the Westchester, is a contrasting placket and collar variation on the basic men’s polo. Also in the group are an assortment of men’s-sized Spyglass armwarmers and Del Sol sunsleeves.
A highlight among the new items is a new technical tweed fabric made by Schoeller, with 3XDRY® moisture management, that wicks, repels water, stretches, and machine washes, even though it looks like fine wool.
All of the Iconic Sport collections will be presented in Booth #8195 in the Club and Resort area of the Apparel section at the upcoming PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Buyers can look for the innovative simulated in-store boutique display, as well as an 8 x 10 foot backdrop enlargement of the Iconic website landing page photographs as guideposts to the Iconic booth. Iconic™ Sport will also have featured items in the adjunct fashion show.
Iconic is now also actively seeking representation for a number of open territories.
