In 2007, Nickent experienced their first taste of what it feels like to win a "Major" Championship at the US Open at Oakmont. The winner was not contracted by Nickent to play their equipment. Enter Jeff Quinney, who had a sizzling rookie season in Nickent gear, earning $1.6 million in a limited number of events.
Nickent’s grass roots strategy has been to work with the rising stars on the Nationwide Tour and follow them to the "big tour." Quinney was with Nickent as one of Nickent’s first staff players on the Nationwide Tour. After his successful rookie season Quinney has been re-enlisted by Nickent to be their face on the PGA Tour.
"We like to grow with our players," explains Nickent CEO Michael Lee. "We had so much fun watching Jeff on TV last year and we can’t wait for him to do it again!"
Brad Adamonis and Travis Perkins join Nickent’s Nationwide team in 2007, after they qualified for the PGA Tour at Q-school. Look for this dynamic duo to work their way up through the ranks to and join Jeff in the spotlight.
Nickent has also signed PGA Tour winner Tim Petrovic to a contract for 2008. Tim is the first contract player to join the Nickent staff without having played on the Nationwide Tour. Tim was attracted to Nickent by the awesome new array of clubs that the company has launched for 2008.
"Tim’s case is a little different than the PGA Tour players we signed from our Nationwide staff," said Josh Trivett. "Tim won with our hybrid in 2005 in New Orleans, and that was our first ever PGA Tour win. It was also his first win on the PGA Tour, so it was a match made in heaven. Petro is a class act and it is a source of pride for Nickent to have him join us. He is a true ambassador for us and he has been a loyal Nickent user for over 3 years." Petrovic competed in the first two events of the FedEx Cup and collected earnings over $1 million for the fourth time in his Tour career. He recorded nine Top 25 finishes, his best year since 2004, when he recorded 11. His finish of 2007 came at the Wyndham Championship, where he finished T2.
In 2007, Quinney won more than $1.5 million and recorded five Top 10 finishes for his most successful season in professional golf. He got off to a quick start during his rookie season on Tour, contending at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, Buick Invitational and FBR Open. Adamonis had his first win last year after 120 starts on the Nationwide Tour. It was also first ever Nationwide Tour win for an official Nickent staff player. Adamonis finished 33rd on the final Nationwide money list, – Hide quoted text – just eight spots off automatically moving up. He then went to Q-school and finished T9th.
