LAKE MARY, FL – For the fifth consecutive year, the International Network Of Golf Spring Conferencewill qualify a team to represent the United States in the International Pairs World Finals in St. Andrews, Scotland. The qualifier takes place at the 18th Annual ING Spring Conference May 27-31 in Atlantic City, NJ.
The winning ING pair will receive a trip to St. Andrews to compete in the Sept. 21-23 global competition against three dozen teams from other countries. The duo’s airfare, three nights accommodations and some meals will be complimentary.
The International Network Of Golf, an18-year-old non-profit, media-based networking organization conducts the conference. ING’s mission is to bring together members of the media and business communities to enhance communication in golf. The conference, which is expected to attract over 225 people, is open to anyone in the golf industry or media.
The winning team in the International Pairs World Qualifier will be determined in an 18-hole event held at the beautiful and historic Atlantic City Country Club on Wednesday, May 28. The competition is a net best ball points game.
As one of America’s oldest and most prestigious golf clubs, Atlantic City Country Club has been home to many national competitions, including six major USGA championships. The Course has a tradition of fast, firm greens and outstanding playing conditions, and its bayside setting is reminiscent of the historic links in Scotland and Ireland.
"We are delighted to once again be working with the ING," said Ross Honey, Founder of the 9-year-oldInternational Pairs competition Honey, whose event has been a huge success in Europe and in dozens of other countries across the globe. "We conduct a first-class competition, and we believe the ING matches that quality at its Spring Conference. It’s a nice partnership."
The 2007 champions were Jim Collins of the Professional Marshals Association, and Dr. Gloria Spitalny of Mastergolf. They won the best ball net quota tournament at Turning Stone in June, then competed in the World Finals at St. Andrews Bay Resort in Scotland.
There are four golf events on the ING schedule. For those more interested in networking than competition, a four-player team scramble is scheduled opposite the two-player team event on Wednesday at the Marriott Seaview Resort. A kickoff skills challenge is also scheduled for Seaview on Tuesday afternoon.
Also, the inaugural Larry Durland Cup scramble competition will take place Friday, May 30 at Harbor Pines Golf Club. Durland is a former ING Golf Committee chair.
