GLENVIEW, Ill., April 1, 2008 – KemperSports today announced Richard Riffle as general manager of The Glen Club, a nationally acclaimed, tournament-tested golf course located on Chicago’s North Shore. In this position, Riffle will oversee operations of the club, featuring a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course, a 48,000-square-foot clubhouse, dining and banquet facilities, finely appointed overnight accommodations and corporate amenities.
Riffle’s professional career spans more than 15 years in the golf and hotel industries, including extensive experience in the private club sector. Prior to joining KemperSports, he served as general manager at Sarasota National, a residential and golf community in Venice, Fla. Before that, Riffle was general manager at the Las Vegas-based Badlands Golf Club. He also held the same post at St. Cloud Country Club, a private facility in the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
Riffle is a member of the Club Managers Association of America. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Illinois State University.
“We’re confident that Rich will lead our best-in-class staff in providing a first-rate experience to guests and members,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “Rich will also play a vital role in continuing to build The Glen Club’s status as a venue for premier amateur and professional events such as the Nationwide Tour’s Bank of America Open.”
The Glen Club, owned and operated by KemperSports, opened in Chicago’s North Shore suburb of Glenview in 2001. Designed by legendary golf course architect Tom Fazio, the course has been consistently recognized by the golf industry’s leading publications, including rankings among GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” and “Top 10 New You Can Play,” as well as Golf Digest’s “Best New Upscale Public Courses.” Most recently, the course ranked No. 2 in Illinois on Golfweek’s annual list of the best public-access courses. Since 2003, The Glen Club has been a marquee stop on the Nationwide Tour’s schedule and will again host the Bank of America Open (formerly the LaSalle Bank Open) on May 29-June 1, 2008. The club also hosted six consecutive Illinois Open Championships (2002-2007), the largest and most prestigious event on the Illinois PGA calendar.
The Glen Club, home of the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame, is open to the public. Corporate memberships are also available. For more information, visit www.theglenclub.com.
