MAGGIE VALLEY, N.C. – Brian Oliver, well known throughout Western North Carolina, recently joined the golf staff at Maggie Valley Club.
Oliver was named assistant golf professional at MVC after eight years at Broadmoor Golf Links in Fletcher. Prior to that, he spent two years each at Hendersonville Country Club and Cummings Cove in Hendersonville, and five years at Etowah Valley in Etowah.
“Brian is experienced and brings a lot of knowledge to the position,” said head golf professional Steve De Witt. “He’s well-rounded and will help us continue in the direction we’re headed at Maggie Valley Club, which is to give the best possible golfing experience to our members and guests.”
Oliver said it was tough to leave Broadmoor, but he was enticed by the opportunities available at MVC, especially in teaching.
“It’s a good change. I love the facility and the chance to work with Steve,” Oliver said. “It’s a different atmosphere coming from a totally public facility. I’m enjoying the adjustment to members and resort play.”
Oliver’s main responsibilities are providing golf lessons, assisting in tournament operations and outings, and overall golf operations.
Oliver is a native of Brevard and a 1992 graduate of Brevard College. He lives in Asheville with his wife, Ashley, and their five-year-old daughter, Haley.
