CONCORD, N.C. – Veteran golf professional Micheal Hamrick has joined the staff at the Embassy Suites Golf Resort & Spa.
Hamrick will serve as head pro of the resort’s Rocky River Golf Club through the end of the year and work closely with current director of golf Floyd Gragg. On Jan. 1, Hamrick takes over the director of golf role from Gragg, who will retire after 46 years in the business.
Hamrick comes to the resort from Tradition Golf Club in Charlotte, where he was general manager and head pro for six and a half years. Tradition is one of several courses in the Charlotte area owned by the IRI Golf Group.
“We’re fortunate to bring in a new pro and have Floyd guide the transition. This will allow Micheal to continue our emphasis of service to the golfers of Concord,” said resort general manager Terry Crawford. “Micheal also has a background in golf tourism, marketing to hotels and selling golf packages, which is what we were looking for on the resort side of things.”
Hamrick has been a Class A PGA professional since 1996 and is working toward his certification as a PGA Master Professional. His work experience includes stints at Fort Jackson Golf Club in Columbia, S.C.; Arizona State University’s Karsten Golf Club in Tempe, Ariz.; and the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
“I was really attracted to Rocky River because of the addition of the Embassy Suites Resort. We now have the opportunity to draw people from all over the country, in addition to our own backyard,” Hamrick said. “We will be enhancing the conditions of the golf course and building upon our customer service levels. This will benefit our local and out-of-town guests.”
Hamrick, 40, is a native of San Antonio and attended Southwest Texas State University. He and his wife, Tammy, have two children: Kyle, 11, and Kayla, 8.
