Aerotech Powers Up with Divisional Wins at RE/MAX World Championship

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Aerotech Golf continues to make a powerful impact through innovation and on-course results with its composite shaft technologies. This week, Aerotech’s Powercoil HP65 graphite shaft delivered winning long drives in two divisions of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship regional finals at the High Cedars Golf Course in Orting, Wash.

Bruce Evans won the Senior Division and Tim Shannon win the Grand Champion division of the RE/MAX Long Drive qualifier event. Both players trusted Aerotech’s PowerCoil HP65 graphite shaft with ‘hoop wind’ technology in their drivers to outdistance their competitors. Evans needed Aerotech’s 4X flex to handle his power, while Shannon finessed the 2X.

Even in very tough conditions Evans won his division delivering a winning drive of 337 yards. He has competed in the RE/MAX World Championship seven times and finished as the runner-up in the Open Division in 1995. Shannon captured his title with a 313-yard blast. The victory marks his second win in the Grand Champion division, in addition to his previous two wins in the Super Senior division. The two regional champions now quality for the 2008 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship scheduled for October 2008 in Mesquite, Nev.

“Winning a pro tour event is always exciting for a shaft manufacturer, but winning a Long Drive event is extremely rewarding because power, accuracy and distance are primary objectives for every shaft design,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “The Powercoil shaft design is one of the most stable shafts in golf and is uniquely designed for distance because the surface layer loads in tension during the swing to store energy more efficiently.”

The Aerotech Powercoil features a ‘hoop wind’ graphite layer that runs around the shaft perpendicular to its longitudinal axis, thus maintaining the shaft’s round profile and eliminating unwanted clubhead oscillation during the swing. Aerotech shaft’s ‘hoop strength’ is superior to other shafts because each shaft has a unique full layer of continuous carbon fiber spiraled down the shaft’s entire length.

Aerotech is renowned for its introduction of an entirely new category into the shaft market with its revolutionary SteelFiber line of shafts. SteelFiber features a high-modulus graphite core and more than 59 miles of steel fiber covering the surface of each shaft, providing golfers with the power of graphite and the stability of steel. While the shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, the steel fibers produce a optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
