Funk Plays the TaylorMade TP Black Ball with LDP Technology to Win First Champions Tour Major Title; Hanson Uses TP Red Ball with LDP Technology, New Rossa Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider to Win European Tour’s SAS Masters

CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 18th, 2008) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professionals Fred Funk and Peter Hanson both relied on TaylorMade® and adidas Golf equipment in their victories on the Champions and the European tours, respectively. Each used a TaylorMade TP ball with LDP technology, plus TaylorMade clubs and adidas Golf TOUR360 LTD footwear to record the wins.

TaylorMade’s LDP technology promotes improved distance on the most common driver off-center hits, and helps make TaylorMade TP balls (including TP Black™ and TP Red™) exceptionally resistant to the effects of headwinds and crosswinds. Learn more.

Funk hit greens with machine-like consistency to lead the field with 26 birdies and win his first major Champions Tour title, the Jeld-Wen Tradition.* It was Funk’s second victory of the year – he also won the season-opening MasterCard Championship at Hualalai – using the TaylorMade TP Ball with LDP technology.

Since switching to TaylorMade balls Funk has won five times – once on the PGA Tour and four times on the Champions Tour.

Funk was also equipped with adidas Golf’s TOUR360 LTD footwear with THiN-Tech. THiN-Tech incorporates a one-piece TPU sole that positions the foot closer to the ground. That creates a remarkably solid, responsive and stable shoe that makes hitting a golf ball a more tactile experience. It also lowers the athlete’s center of gravity to promote increased stability, and channels feedback from the ground more efficiently to promote improved footwork. That helps the athlete hit the ball more solidly, more often.Learn more.

In Stockholm, Sweden, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Peter Hanson putted his way to victory at the SAS Masters becoming the first Swede to win the event in 10 years. Using the new Rossa® Itsy Bitsy Monza® Spider, Hanson ranked sixth in putts per green-in-regulation (GIR) and eighth in putts per round.** Entering the event, Hanson ranked 87th in putts per GIR and 113th in putts per round. Four of top 10 players at the SAS Masters played Rossa putters.***

Like Funk, Hanson also relied on TaylorMade’s LDP golf ball technology in prevailing over the field. Including Hanson, five of the top 10 finishes played a TaylorMade TP Ball. Hanson trusted the TP Red, a golf ball that incorporates four-piece multi-layer construction and is designed for high-spin players who want less spin.

Hanson also played the TaylorMade Tour Burner driver. Engineered for all types of players seeking tour-caliber distance, the Tour Burner driver features Dual Crown technology to create an exceptionally low center of gravity that makes it easier to create vertical-gear effect at impact, which helps achieve the high launch angle / low spin-rate combination that promotes greater distance.
