PHOENIX, Ariz. – Students at The Golf Academy of America (GAA) will be serving as volunteers for the 2008 Special Olympics State Golf Championships on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Vistal Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz. Sharing their passion for the game, GGA students will act as caddies and score-keepers and provide shuttle service for the nine-hole play that will involve children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
“An important part of the GAA culture is community and learning to give back,” says Tim Eberlein, PGA Master Professional and Director of Golf at GGA. “To have our students participate in helping the Special Olympics of Arizona celebrate 30 years of service and to enhance their educational experience is ideal.”
Nestled at the base of South Mountain, Vistal Golf Club offers 18 holes of championship golf along with amazing views of downtown Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun. Vistal Golf Club was designed in consultation with local PGA Tour players Tom Lehman, Billy Mayfair and Howard Twitty. For directions, please visit www.vistalgolfclub.com.
The Special Olympics Site Golf Championship is sponsored by Special Olympics Arizona, whose vision is to help bring all persons with intellectual disabilities and closely related developmental disabilities into the larger society where they are accepted, respected and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens.
