Toronto, ON- On October 24th, Quagmire Golf clothing will be showing its Spring 2009 collection in true Quagmire style during Toronto’s L’Oreal Fashion Week. Be ready to expect the unexpected in the Fashion Week tents as Quagmire Golf presents their line in a break away from the traditional – with an informal fashion show. The lifestyle and golf clothing brand will introduce its latest collection in the L’Oreal Fashion Environment space between runway shows.
photo 12This is the first Quagmire Golf collection, designed by co-owners Geoff Tait and Bobby Pasternak, to be shown during L’Oreal Fashion Week. Tait describes the theme and inspiration of their Spring 2009 line to be, “From the greens to the downtown scenes,” suggesting that this line is more day-to-day wearable than ever before, even off the course. The collection, which promises to be as funky and trendy as ever, will feature “wicked plaids, bright colours, with geometric shapes and designs” explains Pasternak. The energetic duo has designed the line with ‘lifestyle’ wear and needs at the forefront. Quagmire customers can wear the Spring 09 line everywhere from the fairways, to the beach, to the downtown patios.
Quagmire Golf has already become a major hit with celebrity golfers. Celebrities such as John Mayer, Don Cheadle, and Rachel Hunter have donned their threads on the greens. Most recently, Quagmire Golf sponsored player, Chez Reavie, has been wearing the stylish designs on the course. In July, Reavie took home the trophy for the 2008 RBC Canadian Open in the Quagmire Baby Blue ‘Briggzy’ shirt. Chez Reavie said of the line, “Quagmire clothing is very comfortable, it’s stylish, and it stands out.” The win was big for both Reavie and Quagmire. It was a first for rookie Reavie, and Quagmire Golf was seen on news outlets across the continent.
ChezThe company began in 2005 when Tait (pictured left with Chez Reavie centre) and Pasternak (pictured right) met as counselors at a fantasy golf camp. The two really hit if off when they both agreed they were tired of the ‘old man’ golf clothing. Instead of wearing golf’s big-shot, name-brand clothing to hit the links, Tait and Pasternak found themselves and their campers wearing surf and skate clothes. They found that young golfers were wearing everything but actual golf clothing brands and knew there was a market for something new and fresh. The duo came up with idea to create a line of edgy and fun clothing, yet still be respectful to the traditional game. The company started selling across Ontario and then Alberta soon after. Now, the Canadian company boasts an ever growing roster of availability, selling its clothing in North America and beyond for the young and the young at heart.
Geoff Tait, 29, can safely say that golf has always been a major part of his life. He started working on a golf course at age 12, has taken the Professional Golf Management program, and has even taught golf on a cruise ship. It is very fitting that Geoff would be part of a design duo for a funky lifestyle clothing brand – he gained experience designing beach pants in Australia while attending university down under.
Bobby Pasternak, 25, has also been teeing off since he was young. Bobby grew up in Toronto, ON playing golf with his father and 2 brothers. A natural entrepreneur, his first venture was an events and promotions company that he started while studying Business at McGill University in Montreal. Pasternak really enjoys being part of a creative design duo and has a knack for the Quagmire Golf customer service.
Bobby and Geoff believe that the 09 line is the best yet and they can’t wait to unveil it for everyone at L’Oreal Fashion Week on October 24th. Quagmire has a very busy schedule ahead. After showing in L’Oreal Fashion Week in Toronto, look for Pasternak and Tait at trade shows across North America including Arizona, Texas, and California.
