Newly opened course will host a grand opening event Oct. 18
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 30, 2008 – KemperSports recently named Kevin Michael general manager of Newport Dunes Golf Club, the newly-constructedArnold Palmer Signature Golf Course at Newport Beach and Golf, a resort community on Texas’ Mustang Island which opened the course for play Sept. 4 and will host a grand opening event Oct. 18. Michael will be responsible for all daily operations of the club.
Prior to joining KemperSports, Michael served as president of his own golf course management consulting firm, as well as co-owner and developer of 4-Star Service Online Training. He has extensive experience in opening high-end daily fee clubs as general manager, having led his team to a very successful opening at Cowboys Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, in 2000. Prior to that assignment he opened The Golf Club at Castle Hills in Lewisville, Texas.
Michael is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University who earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, as well as an MBA with emphasis on Accounting and Finance from the same university. He has been a PGA Class ‘A’ Member since 1995.

The 18-hole layout, named Newport Dunes, is part of the first phase of construction at the coastal destination, which upon completion will feature residential villages, multiple hotels, a marina, tennis and beach clubs, two golf courses and other premium amenities to Mustang Island, located on the south end of Port Aransas.
Newport Dunes, surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Corpus Christi Bay, plays to a par 71 while providing outstanding vistas and ornamental landscapes. Of his more than 300 golf courses and clubs worldwide, Newport Dunes is golf icon and course designer Arnold Palmer’s first seaside golf destination.
