Fairhaven, MA (October 20, 2008) – Carrying on the legacy of his famous golfing family, Marc Turnesa earned his first career PGA Tour victory at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Marc trusted the Pro V1x golf ball and a bag of Titleist equipment to secure a wire-to-wire, one shot win. Marc’s performance continues the momentum young Titleist Brand Ambassadors have enjoyed this season, including last week’s winner Zach Johnson, as well as fellow first-time champions Johnson Wagner, Ryuji Imada, Chez Reavie and Parker McLachlin.
Turnesa’s win was one of six by Titleist golf ball players across the worldwide professional tours this week, extending its year-to-date win count to 150, five times more than the nearest competitor with 30.

PGA TOUR: Marc Turnesa posted a 25-under 263 to win his first PGA TOUR title at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Turnesa opened with a 10-under 62 and closed with a 4-under 68 en route to four consecutive rounds in the 60s and a one-shot victory. Three players tied for third, including Pro V1x loyalists Michael Allen and John Mallinger.

– Turnesa topped a leaderboard that included eight Titleist golf ball players among the top 10 finishers, including fellow Brand Ambassadors Davis Love III (T6/Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 906F3 3- and 5-woods, 680 irons, Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport putter) and Tom Pernice, Jr. (T8/Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 909F2 3-wood, 909H hybrids, AP2 irons, Vokey design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Futura putter).
– Statistically, Turnesa was 4th in Putts Per Greens in Regulation (1.610) and T5 in Putts Per Round (27.5) playing the new Scotty Cameron Fastback putter. He was also T11 in Greens in Regulation (81.9%) and averaged 303.1 yards per drive with his new Titleist 909D2 driver. Turnesa’s win marks the fourth with a new 909D2 driver since seeding began on the PGA Tour over the last three months. He joins Zach Johnson (last week’s Valero Texas Open), Parker McLachlin (Reno-Tahoe) and Chez Reavie (Canadian Open) in the winners’ circle since putting it in play.
– Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 90 players, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also the top choice in iron sets (36), wedges (128) and putters (55). Turnesa’s win marks the 27th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than twice the nearest competitor with 11.
PGA EUROPEAN: Spain’s Alvaro Quiros (Pro V1x) fired a final round 68 to win the Portugal Masters by three shots for his first win of the year and second of his career. The 25-year old finished at 19-under 269. – Quiros topped a leaderboard that included 12 Titleist golf ball loyalists among the 13 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Portugal Masters with 80 players, compared to 18 for the nearest competitor. The win was the 23rd for Titleist players across the 2008 PGA European Tour, nearly six times the nearest competitor with 4.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Bernhard Langer (Pro V1) defended his Administaff Small Business Classic title, shooting a final round 69 to finish with a total of 12-under 204, two shots clear of his closest competitor. It was the third victory of the year for Langer and the fourth of his Champions Tour career. Last year, Langer won the Administaff by eight strokes when he finished 25-under.
– Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 51 players (66%), compared to 12 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (18) and wedge (45) categories. Langer’s win marks the 22nd for Titleist golf ball players on the 2008 Champions Tour, more than five times the nearest competitor with 4.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: With a birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, Arjun Atwal (Pro V1x) topped Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson (Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 909F2 fairway metal, 909H utility metal, 680 irons, Vokey Spin Milled sand wedge, Spin Milled TVD lob wedge) to capture the Chattanooga Classic. It was the first win in the United States for Atwal, who has seven international victories to his credit, including the Maybank Malaysian Open on the European Tour earlier this year. Playing together in the final round, Atwal and Simpson tied in regulation at 24-under 264. Simpson shot a tournament record-tying 61 in the first round, only to be outdone by Atwal who broke that record the next day with a 12-under 60 in Round 2.
The win moves Atwal to 15th place on the Nationwide Tour money list, virtually assuring him a trip back to the PGA Tour next season. Simpson is now 45th on the money list in just six Nationwide Tour events, qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championship. Players inside the top 25 at the end of the season will earn PGA Tour cards for next year.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 104 players, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (46), wedge (138) and putter (67) categories. Atwal’s win marks the 22nd for Titleist golf ball players on the 2008 Nationwide Tour, more than 10 times the nearest competitor with 2.
ASIAN TOUR: Seventeen year-old Noh Sueng-Yul (Pro V1x, 909D3 driver, 906F2 3-wood, 909H hybrid, ZM irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport putter) captured the Midea China Classic to become the third youngest player to win on the Asian Tour. Each of the top 10 players trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. With 106 players, over 74 percent of the field relied upon Titleist golf balls, more than six times the nearest competitor with 17.
SOUTH AFRICA: James Kamte (Pro V1x ) won his second title of the year and third of his career by capturing the Metmar Highveld Classic. Kamte posted rounds of 63 and a 64 on the weekend to finish at 20-under 196, topping last week’s winner Doug McGuigan (Pro V1x), Titleist Brand Ambassador Desvonde Botes (Pro V1) and Brandon Pieters (Pro V1x) by five shots. Each of the eight players who finished among the top five and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Metmar Witbank Classic with 49 players (68%), compared to 20 for the nearest competitor.
