PowerBilt Golf is adding two veteran sales managers – both of whom rose to high ranks within Nicklaus Golf. Ty Grove was a Vice President of Sales with Nicklaus. He joins PowerBilt as North East Regional Sales Manager. John Wilson was Nicklaus’s Midwest Regional Sales Manager. He comes to PowerBilt as the Regional Sales Manager for the Central U.S. and Great Plains States.
Grove and Wilson join PowerBilt just as it’s getting ready to launch the Air Force One, a line of drivers, fairway woods and hybrids featuring Nitrogen-Charged Technology. Using nitrogen gas, PowerBilt will pressurize the heads of Air Force One clubs to create ultra-thin faces that do not need mechanical bracing, thus offering the thinnest face in golf with the largest sweetspot.
“This is new technology that enhances the game for golfers of all types. By bringing Ty and John on board, we’re getting our sales force in place for the demand this technology will create,” says Ross Kvinge, President of PowerBilt.
Grove and Wilson will be working with PowerBilt’s other regional sales managers – Jim Rice and Bob Bartlett – who are also industry veterans to recently join PowerBilt.
Ty Grove began his professional career in the golf industry with the Washington Golf Center in Arlington, Va. He was privileged to learn from a true golf retail pioneer, Mr. Charles Chay, and soon became the Manager of the nation’s largest golf stores in the country from 1987 to 1994. After a brief role as District Manager for Hacker’s Helper Golf Shops in Pittsburgh, he took a role as a Regional Sales Manager with Nicklaus Golf Equipment and saw his career advance to one of their Vice Presidents of Sales. He covered 25 different states with Nicklaus, but in recent years focused on the Northeast Region. Ty brings a passion, dedication and 21 strong years of experience that has led to some great relationships in this industry. He currently resides in Charlottesville, VA with his wife, Pam, and two children, Brianna and Kelsey.
John Wilson began his professional career in the golf industry with Pro Golf Discount of Indiana in 1984. Learning the business from the ground floor from a golf retail legend, Bob Leve, he evolved into the Senior Vice President of Operations for one the top retail chains in the Midwest over his 20-year career there. In 2004, he left PGI to take on a new position with Nicklaus Golf as a Regional Manager for the Midwest. John brings a strong background and almost 25 years of experience to Powerbilt and has a passion and dedication to the industry that will help PowerBilt grow into one of the top brands in our industry. John currently resides in O’Fallon, Mo with his wife Jackie and two sons, Jake and Tyler.
PowerBilt Golf is a division of Hillerich & Bradsby, which has been making golf clubs since 1916. H&B is also the maker of Louisville Slugger bats and equipment and Bionic Gloves, the fastest growing glove in golf.
