David Toms Ties Scott for 2nd. Both Rely Upon New 2009 Pro V1 Golf Ball.
Fairhaven, MA (January 19, 2009) – While the season-opening Hawaii Swing came to a close, the momentum of Titleist continued. Titleist Brand Ambassadors posted a 1-2 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, as Zach Johnson fired four consecutive rounds in the 60’s to edge Adam Scott by two shots. Scott tied for second with Titleist golf ball loyalist David Toms, both of whom trusted the new 2009 Pro V1 for their success.
The Sony Open marked the first full field event of the 2009 PGA TOUR season, and more players teed up the New 2009 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls than any other model. Of the 144 players in the field, 98 (66%) trusted Titleist golf balls for their success, over five times the nearest competitor with 18. At the Sony Open, Johnson closed with a 5-under 65 to finish at 15-under 265, securing his fifth career PGA Tour title. Scott fired a final round 6-under 64, while Toms closed with a 66.
