MAGGIE VALLEY, N.C. – Jay Manner has been named general manager at Maggie Valley Club, bringing with him 30 years experience in the club and hospitality industry.
Manner began his new role in late 2008 after managing a collection of four East-West Partners clubs in Jacksonville, Fla., for three years. Maggie Valley Club recently switched to East-West Partners Club Management to handle day-to-day operations.
Manner is pleased with his new position and looks forward to elevating the hospitality, customer service and overall lifestyle experience at Maggie Valley Club.
“Going forward, one of our main focuses is reaching out to locals and folks across Western North Carolina,” Manner said. “As a semi-private club, we are a local option for dining, golf, special occasions and business meetings. We want to be a bigger part of this community and the fabric of Haywood County.”
Although he arrived from north Florida, Manner is no stranger to the mountains of North Carolina. From 1993 to 2005 he was general manager of Roaring Gap Club, a private club in Roaring Gap, N.C., known for its Donald Ross-designed golf course. His resume also includes extensive experience as food & beverage manager and executive chef at such noted facilities as: Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem, Jupiter Island Club in Hobe Sound, Fla., and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in South Hampton, N.Y.
“Maggie Valley Club has a tremendous upside. The golf course is very nice and the facilities are second to none,” Manner said. “The members, staff and owners have welcomed me warmly, and I am committed to fulfilling the ownership’s vision for this special place.”
Manner is a member of the Club Managers Association of America and a native of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. He is married with four children.
