Butterfield Trail Golf Club and Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club finish first and second in Golf Inc.’s Development of the Year Awards
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Jan. 21, 2009 – KemperSports today announced that two of its properties have been honored in Golf Inc.’s 2008 Development of the Year competition. Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas, and Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club in Dinuba, Calif., finished first and second, respectively, in the magazine’s annual contest.
“Both Butterfield Trail and Ridge Creek Dinuba are excellent examples of the types of golf projects we are proud to recognize in our annual Development of the Year awards,” said Chase Peckham, Golf Inc. associate publisher. “Both courses are well-thought out and well-executed to achieve the visions of their developers and provide a superb golf experience for their customers.”
According to the story in the publication’s Jan./Feb. issue, “KemperSports has carved out a successful niche in the operation of high-end publicly owned golf facilities, including the Golf Inc. runner-up course, Ridge Creek Dinuba, as well as other prominent facilities including Chambers Bay, Desert Willow Golf Resort, Black Gold Golf Club, The Crossings at Carlsbad and more.”
“We are honored to have two of our properties recognized by Golf Inc.,” said Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports. “It is a testament to the quality of the development teams and vision of both communities.”
This award marks the second consecutive year in which KemperSports-managed properties have been honored as Development of the Year. Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., and Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills, Calif., were winners in the daily fee and private club categories, respectively, in 2007.
Butterfield Trail Golf Club, designed by Tom Fazio, opened in June 2007 and has quickly become a premium golf destination in the Southwest and is the only public Fazio-designed layout in Texas. The course features more than 55 feet of elevation changes and lends itself to a challenging game with its vertical transitions, making every hole a memorable experience. The property, developed and owned by The El Paso Department of Aviation, sits on more than 175 acres and tops out as a par-72, 7,307-yard layout from the championship tees.
Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club is owned by the City of Dinuba and was designed by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based John Fought. The par-72, upscale daily-fee course, strategically incorporates natural grasses and bunkers to produce a heathland golf experience as found in the classic courses of England. Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club also features a full service restaurant and bar, Three Finger Jack’s.
