Cara Lauwaert Named Director of Sales at SouthWood Golf Club

Florida State Alumnus to Oversee Golf Membership, Cottage and SouthWood House Sales Programs

(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) – SouthWood Golf Club – the award-winning public course at the heart of one of Tallahassee’s most comprehensively designed communities – today announces that Cara Lauwaert has been promoted to director of sales.

Lauwaert will oversee all sales activities related to the popular membership program at the Gene Bates/Fred Couples-designed golf course, the Cottages at SouthWood, and the SouthWood House adjacent to the cottages. Prior to the director of sales position, she served as membership director under general manager Beth Murphy.

“The golf course, cottages and SouthWood House are an incredibly unique collection that sets up perfectly for hosting golf events, weddings, corporate retreats and more,” says Lauwaert. “They are focal points of this community, and I look forward to working with the SouthWood team to create a cohesive brand that stimulates sales in 2009.”

A graduate of Florida State University with a B.S. in Human Sciences and a minor in Education, Lauwaert served as an admissions counselor at KeiserUniversity’s Tallahassee campus before joining the SouthWood team. Prior to that, she worked for Career Education Corporation/Sanford Brown Institute inJacksonville, where she received numerous awards for outstanding achievement.

“Cara excelled at in the role of membership director and she’ll bring that same energy and insight to this new, expanded role,” says SouthWood General Manager Beth Murphy. “Cara has an intimate knowledge of SouthWood, having worked food and beverage operations while attending Florida State, and most recently by way of her outstanding achievements as membership director. She possesses a from-the-ground-up understanding of how a golf course operates and what it takes to be successful in sales.”
