LAKE MARY, FL – We are still three months away from the start of the 19th Annual ING Spring Conference, but already several organizations and dozens of individuals have registered. The conference will take place May 17-21 at the beautiful and historic French Lick Resort in Indiana
The non-profit International Network of Golf conducts this annual gathering of golf media and business leaders to exchange information, display products and develop and nurture business relationships. Anyone in the golf industry and media is invited to attend (www.inggolf.com).
Three equipment manufacturers made their attendance official in the past few days.
Adams Golf will participate in the complete conference schedule, including Demo Lab and the One-On-One Appointment Show. This marks the second consecutive year that Adams has been active in the conference. The company will be promoting its Speedline driver and woods, with Lisa Weistart in attendance.
Also on board for the French Lick gathering is PowerBilt and its new Air Force One driver and fairway woods. The clubheads of the new Air Force One golf clubs are pressurized with nitrogen, are built with the thinnest face in golf and feature weightless face support for maximum trampoline effect. PowerBilt will be represented by Ross Kvinge and Larry Edlin, and will participate in the Demo Lab and the One-On-One Appointment Show.
Also, Louisville Golf will be on board to display its latest offering of traditional wood golf clubs. Included on that list is the Limited Edition NIBLICK 16 and 1/2 wood, which commemorates the American Ryder Cup victory in Louisville. 16 and 1/2 is the winning score for the United States team, which defeated the Europeans for the first time since 1999, finally bringing home the cup just minutes from the Louisville Golf factory.
The popular ING One-On-One Appointment Show, a key component of the conference, was created to place an emphasis on business relations between the media and golf companies, resorts, destinations and entrepreneurs. It is set for Tuesday morning, May 19 at French Lick Resort, which has just undergone a $500 million renovation. It is just one element of an action-packed ING schedule. The lineup includes:
1)Food For Thought Breakfast: Workers from various aspects of the golf industry will lead a discussion about the current state and the future direction of the golf industry.
2)The Demo Lab will feature approximately 20 companies displaying their latest equipment and training gear on the practice range and green.
3)The International Pairs World Qualifier. A two-player team that wins this 18-hole net points competition at the brand new Pete Dye Course at French Lick will represent ING and the USA in the International Pairs World Finals at Carnoustie in Scotland in October, an expenses-paid trip. The Durland Cup scramble will also be conducted, along with other golf events.
4)The ING Fashion Show. ING members will take to the runway as models, sporting the latest and greatest fashions from some of the industry’s top apparel companies.
5)Education and self-improvement programs galore from utilizing the New Social Media, to marketing, to public relations, publishing, writing and more. There is something for everyone.
Helping to kick off the week in a positive and energetic way is motivational speaker Bruce Boguski of Winner’s Edge. At age 18, Boguski was partially paralyzed in an automobile accident. After doctors warned that he might never walk again, he left the hospital six months later under his own power. After a two-year struggle to regain full use of his body, Boguski went on to become a two-time state champion in racquetball and played for a state championship softball team. Today, being able to talk from personal experience, he speaks to groups of all types on how attitude makes the difference in whatever we do.
Among a growing list of others who have signed up to date are:
Jack Bacot of G Magazine, Dan Barz of Barz Golf, Convergence editor J.J. Keegan, golf course designer Ron Garl, Hal Gevertz of Golf Today, freelance writers Katharine Dyson, Cynthia Janssens, Parker Smith, Larry Durland and Ed Travis, Florida Greens editor Joel Jackson, Golfing Magazine-Long Island Publisher John Glozek, Golfystles-Philadelphia editor Tony Leodora, web site specialist Dan Perry, Louisville Golf’s Josh Fischer, and Minnesota Golf publisher Greg Wires.
