Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., March 4, 2009 Continuing to demonstrate their commitment to growing the game of golf, the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) and EWGA Foundation presented a check for $35,053.30 to LPGA-USGA Girls Golf during the All Star Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the 2009 EWGA Conference in Palm Desert, California. The check represents funds raised in 2008 by EWGA Chapters and the EWGA Foundation through various fundraising efforts in support of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
Over the past six years, the EWGA Foundation, through EWGA chapters and association-wide fundraising efforts, has raised nearly $400,000 in support of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, one of the EWGA Foundation’s designated charities. The EWGA Foundation also provides EWGA members who serve as mentors, volunteers and site directors at more than 40 LPGA-USGA Girls Golf sites, making the EWGA one of the largest single contributors to the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program aside from the USGA.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2009, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf (Girls Golf) was formed to connect girls, ages 7 to17, with the game of golf. A developmental junior golf program and the only national initiative of its kind, Girls Golf presents an opportunity for girls to make lasting friendships, gain self-confidence, learn to compete and have fun, while fostering a lifetime of enjoyment for the game.
Girls Golf, with nearly 200 sites around the country and more that 60,000 participants since its inception in 1989, is administered through a partnership between The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation and the United States Golf Association (USGA), both 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.
The EWGA Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization, a separate legal entity formed and supported by the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Its mission is to develop premier golf education and leadership development programs for women. Initiatives also include the development of a golf education curriculum, Drive for Dreams outreach program to ‘give the gift of golf’ and the annual “EWGA at the U.S. Women’s Open” charity event to benefit LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
Since the EWGA started in 1991, more than 100,000 women have benefited from membership in the organization which is dedicated to connecting women to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and for fun. There are currently over 125 chapters throughout the United States with international chapters in Canada and France. The EWGA is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
