Daphne's Headcovers supports First Book and literacy efforts

Phoenix, Arizona – Daphne’s Headcovers, the original animal headcover company, announced their support of First Book’s literacy development efforts through online sales of headcovers at Daphne’s HeadCover Shop.
Jane Spicer, president of Daphne’s Headcovers, explained, “Reading books has always been an significant part of my life and the lives of my family. The thought of some children not having access to book or not being able to read books is overwhelmingly heartbreaking to me and I’m committed to helping the cause of First Book to get new books into children’s hands.”
First Book provides new books to children in need addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. The inspiration for the organization was born when Kyle Zimmer, a corporate lawyer by day and tutor at an inner-city soup kitchen by night, discovered that the children she tutored had no books to read.
She realized that there were millions of potential readers, future workers, citizens and parents, who were eager to love reading and learning, but were without the tools to do so. Spurred to action, Kyle founded First Book to provide new books and resources to the children who needed them the most.
