BALTIMORE, MD. – April 16, 2009 – STX, world-renowned for its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, announced today that the company is working diligently to expand its worldwide retail presence.
A major component to the STX new business model is to grow the business utilizing key distributors. For years STX has enjoyed a strong consumer demand and representation in Sweden, Finland, and Norway. The company attributes this success to the touring professionals from those countries that play STX Putters. However, STX would like to build and develop relationships from other European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and more.
“The importance of having worldwide partners is pivotal in achieving the anticipated goals and objectives we’ve set,” said Director of Golf at STX, Steve Henneman. “We are currently in negotiations with several new international distributors but encourage others who are interested to contact us.”
In addition to exploring distributors in Europe, STX is interested in pursuing representation from each individual country within Asia. In the past, STX was represented throughout the Pacific Rim by a vast distributorship. With a clear understanding of where STX stands in the global marketplace, the company would like to enter into an alliance with distributors that understand and support a boutique but emerging company like STX.
“The Asian golf community has become a major influence in the golf market, particularly Korea and Japan. We look forward to developing relationships to help us in these regions,” added Henneman.
Today, STX offers their distributors a new product portfolio that not only marks STX’s silver anniversary but also embodies the company’s quest for excellence. In early 2009, STX introduced the Envision TR Putter which has enjoyed critical acclaim from both the media and domestic retailers. This spring, the company will introduce a modern and stylish blade featuring the ProFit™ system, an innovation exclusively from STX. This technology provides quick adjustments for feel and weighting through interchangeable faces and weights. This capability allows the golfer to control the putter head and speed according to personal preferences and course condition.
International sales programs have been developed to support existing and potential STX distributors. For more information, please contact Steve Henneman at STX, 800-STX-PUTT. Currently, both Canada and Mexico have been handled as domestic accounts, but the company is looking into expanding this business unit.
About STX: STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented elastomer face insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” In the mid-90s the company’s research and development team introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system.
Behind the company’s uniquely styled putter heads is Robert “Bob” Engman, STX Putters’ Chief Club Designer. A world-renowned sculptor with works in the Hirshhorn Museum, the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, Bob is also a three-time senior champion at Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia.
