PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, May 19, 2009 – Troon Golf, the first golf management company to become a supporting partner of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) has renewed its agreement and sponsorship of the Troon Hole-In-One Club.
As part of the partnership, all EWGA members are automatically awarded Troon Rewards Silver status, a 10% discount on golf and merchandise at participating Troon Golf Club Network facilities. Executive distinction members receive Gold status, a 15% discount.
The Troon Golf Hole-In-One Club offers EWGA members who make a Hole-in-One at either an 18- or 9-hole EWGA sanctioned event a complimentary round of golf for four at any Troon Golf facility. In 2008, 17 EWGA members received this prize valued at up to $1000 or more. Four women already have entered this exclusive club so far this year. Three of those hole-in-ones were scored during the February EWGA Annual Conference in Palm Desert, California.
Troon Golf has participated in the EWGA Golf Club Network since the start of the program. In January 2007, the company received the first “Female Friendly Facility” designation from the EWGA at 13 of its clubs. To earn this special designation, a facility needs to participate in the EWGA Golf Club Network and also meet additional criteria rated on playability of the course and customer experience. Some of the factors include having at least two sets of tees rated for women, clean restrooms available at least every 6 holes, and providing equal services to men and women.
“At the golf course, women don’t want to feel they are being treated differently, they just want to be taken seriously,” says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. “Troon Golf understands the value of providing ‘female friendly’ facilities. And we greatly value their continuing support and partnership with the EWGA.”
A 2008 survey of EWGA members conducted by the PGA of America found that the average EWGA member plays 32 rounds per year. EWGA members spent an average of $4296 on golf activities, merchandise and golf related travel, with each local EWGA chapter annually generating $602,900 in golf related spending. With over 125 chapters throughout the United States, as well as international chapters in Canada and France, the EWGA represents nearly $75 million to the golf industry.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the EWGA,” says Hud Hinton, president and COO, Troon Golf. “We recognize that golf’s future success lies in creating a welcoming environment for those who are interested in the game, which is why we strive to create a sense of acceptance for women golfers at all of our facilities.”
