PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, June 2, 2009 – Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) is the Grand Dinner keynote speaker for POWER Golf, organized by Inforum, Michigan’s largest business organization for women. The June 8 event brings together some of Michigan’s top female business leaders who will take to the links as mentors for this special golf outing designed to promote powerful business networking.
Understanding concerns about managing time constraints and being on a golf course during difficult times, the POWER Golf program features nine holes of golf beginning at 2 p.m. to allow morning office hours for busy professionals. To cut driving time, the event is being held at centrally located Pine Lake Golf Course in Orchard Lake, Mich. For newer golfers, a golf clinic is being offered to help women become more comfortable and confident on the course. The Grand Dinner follows the afternoon activities. “Like those who belong to the EWGA, the women participating in POWER Golf realize that golf is an important business tool that is especially useful in today’s challenging business environment,” says Swensen. “It now is more important than ever to build relationships and utilize the networking opportunities that golf offers.”
To facilitate valuable networking, each golf team will include a POWER Golfer — a highly recognized executive woman. Some of the women who have committed to be POWER Golfers at this event are: Patricia Maryland, President, St. John Health; Sandra Pierce, CEO & President-Michigan, Charter One Bank N.A.; Nancy Schlichting, President & CEO, Henry Ford Health System; Sue Cischke, Group Vice President, Sustainability, Environment & Safety Engineering, Ford Motor Company; Karla Hall, Vice President, DTE Energy; and Debbie Dingell, Vice Chairman, General Motors Foundation and Executive Director, Public Affairs & Community Relations, General Motors Corporation.
“Women often lose out on the connections that can be made on the golf course,” said Inforum President and CEO Terry Barclay. “The POWER Golf emphasis is on building relationships, mentoring, sharing resources and networking for women on the course and in the club house.”
Proceeds from this event will benefit Inforum Center for Leadership (ICL), the non-profit education and research arm of Inforum. It offers highly regarded leadership development programs that allow women to challenge themselves and reach the next level in their careers.
