Alexandria, VA – August 27, 2009 – The Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) will reschedule its 2009 National Club Championship (NCC) for Fall 2010. “In light of the recent downward trend in spending for most organizations, we feel it is prudent to postpone this year’s event and reschedule it for next year,” says Seth Gregg, COO, The Club Foundation, and NCC Tournament Director. “Doing so will relieve any financial burden placed on clubs, their members as participants and CMAA members during a time when everyone is seeking to lower expenditures.”
The CMAA National Club Championship was most recently sponsored by Cadillac. As General Motors heads into its restructuring process, notes Gregg, a postponement of the NCC will offer the best possible outcome for the title sponsor’s involvement moving forward.
The Association intends to continue recognition of this time-honored club tradition with the 2010 National Club Championship. The NCC has generated positive momentum throughout the golfing community during the past six years; the tournament’s tenure boasts more than 600 local club champions from around the country who vie for the title of National Club Champion. The tournament has been hosted at facilities including Kiawah Island Resort, Pinehurst, The Woodlands, TPC Sawgrass and others.
The 2010 event will include three divisions – champion, senior and women’s — and will offer 54 holes of tournament golf played at scratch over three days. Several social events will offer networking opportunities to all participants, sponsors and guests.
Gregg emphasizes, “CMAA is extremely excited about reengaging the local club champions to join us for this world-class event in 2010.”
