Columbus, Ga., – Roy Nix, Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP), leader in the advancement of custom clubfitting and clubmaking , is pleased to announce the 4th Annual AGCP Roundtable Education Conference will be held October 14-18, 2009 at the historic Columbus Iron Works Convention & Trade Center in Columbus, Georgia. Call 706-324-7490 to become an AGCP Member, or visit www.agcp.com for more information.
The 4th Annual AGCP Roundtable is only a week away now and the AGCP is making plans for 2010 and RT-5. In only a few short years the AGCP has grown into the place to be for custom clubfitters and custom clubmakers. Each year the Annual Roundtable is becoming more and more a gathering place for the best in the Clubfitting business to get together and enjoy the fellowship of our peer group and celebrate what we do by sharing information with our peers around the world. For AGCP members, Golf outings, members cooking meals and catering meals to share with their friends while they talk about better ways to fit and build golf clubs has become a hallmark of the Annual AGCP Roundtable festivities. What began in Branson MO at Hoot Gibson’s golf shop with about a dozen couples getting together to meet and greet and talk about custom fitting and custom building has become an annual event that more than 150 look forward to.
The AGCP has begun planning next year’s event before this year’s event is held. Each year it seems that we search for a perfect date that will accommodate everyone who wants to be here. We search for a perfect format to accommodate everything we want to accomplish. We search for a perfect agenda each year to continue to teach the basics while we introduce new science, new techniques and new discoveries about our craft. We add additional days, and we offer more information and instruction over a longer period of time. No longer can every member simply mark off a few days in the fall and see and do it all, now the member has to choose what few days of many are going to be the most beneficial for him and his business to attend. In only 4 events the schedule has grown from 3 days to 5 days and looks to possibly expand again next year to be able to get everything accomplished for all who wish to participate.
The AGCP is growing and learning new ways to offer more educational opportunities as we grow. During 2009 the Nix Family relocated their business operations to expand the amount of space devoted to all three of their family businesses, On Time Printing, McNix Golf, and including the AGCP space that was once only a file drawer in McNix Golf. The AGCP building is now 99% complete with construction on the AGCP Classroom/Studio where we intend to begin conducting a limited number of schools in 2010. Plans for some of the schools will be announced at the Roundtable conference in Columbus Georgia next week and the first classes will be during Roundtable week on Tuesday of next week with Todd Kos of OptimalFlight offering 3 classes on his OptimalFlight software, 1 beginner’s class and 2 advanced classes.
With the addition this year of Daniel McMahon and Mick Howe to the Nix Family operations in 2008 and 2009 the AGCP now has the additional manpower, expertise and youth to move the AGCP forward with plans for growth and expansion. The expertise in building, construction, marketing and Internet Technology that has been added with Daniel and Mick has given the AGCP the ability to reach out to members like never before. More importantly they have given Linda Nix more time to help with marketing, advertising and with the TV production that will become an important element in promoting not only the AGCP but Professional Custom Clubfitting and Professional Custom Clubmaking around the world. Linda’s extensive background in TV and Radio as well as Advertising Agency operations will prove to be an important asset to the AGCP in the future.
What began as Roy Nix operating McNix Golf and an email list with some friends in the industry has become the front runner in the industry for Professional Clubfitters and Professional Clubmakers around the world. In 2010 the AGCP is ready to accept the challenge for promoting Custom Fitting and Custom Club making to golfers around the world.
After the first of the year the AGCP will purchase the necessary equipment to shoot Professional Broadcast HD Quality Videos and begin making a series of videos supporting Professional Custom Fitting and Custom Clubmaking. We hope to introduce a new AGCP web site in 2010 that will feature testimonials and instructional videos about Professional Custom Fitting and Custom Clubmaking and illustrating the benefits of Professional Custom Fitting and Custom Clubmaking. We also plan to upload many videos to YouTube in 2010 supporting Professional Custom Fitting and Custom Clubmaking. We hope somewhere along the way some of our videos may go Viral. We will be doing shorts on using key pieces of equipment such as frequency machines, MOI machines, grinding, and other equipment we all use on a daily basis. Some of this, probably the more advanced versions will be for members only, but much of it will be available to everyone on the internet. We will begin working on much of this immediately after the Roundtable.
We invite all clubmakers and clubfitters to join the AGCP. By paying our annual dues you help us to help you with our projects to expose what we do to the world. RT4 will be over a 5 day period with classes on Tuesday, a Demo Day on Wednesday at a local golf course and Classes and exhibits in the Columbus Convention Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.Plans for RT-5 in 2010 looks to see a bigger and better experience for all involved.
On Thursday evening during Roundtable week at our members meeting and dinner Keith Chatham, Jerry Hoefling Sr., Rich Hurley, Bill Kelly, Gerald “Jerry” Lovell, Mike Moynahan, Roy Nix, Russ Ryden, Tom Spargo, Bob Uebelhor, and Dana Upshaw will be the first AGCP members to be recognized as “Masters of Golf Club Technology” and the program will be introduced by Mike Moynahan for all AGCP members to participate and the requirements will be published and explained.
Last year we ran a 1/3 page full color ad about Custom Clubfitting in every issue of Golf Illustrated magazine, and this year we are directing that budget towards internet videos and Viral marketing.
The AGCP this year is the only clubfitter, clubmaker organization that is holding a trade show and offering seminars strictly for clubfitters and clubmakers. We need all the member support and sponsor support that we can get to keep our annual conference growing and viable for clubmakers. The AGCP has the following sponsors this year financially supporting and/or attending our Trade Show in Columbus Georgia next week. We encourage all clubmakers everywhere to support the sponsors that support the AGCP in getting the message out about custom Clubfitting and clubmaking and keep our organization, the membership and the Roundtable growing year after year.
