HALF MOON BAY, Calif. – Michael Cook, PGA Head Professional from Mountain Springs Golf Club in Sonora, Calif., earned the title of Northern California PGA Senior Stroke Play and Senior PGA Professional Champion. Gary Plato from San Jose, Calif. earned the title of Super Sr. Stroke Play Champion with a total score of 76-72-148. This two-day event was held August 23-24, 2010 at Half Moon Bay Golf Links (Par 72) in Half Moon Bay, Calif. In addition, Cook will lead nine (9) Section Senior PGA Professionals to compete in the 22nd Senior PGA Professional National Championship held October 7-10, 2010 at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, California.

The oldest major championship in senior golf, the Senior PGA Professional Championship was born in 1937 on the grounds of another of golf’s majors at the invitation of one of the game’s greatest players. At the suggestion of renowned amateur Bobby Jones Jr., the inaugural Senior PGA Professional Championship was played at August National Golf Club three years after the first Masters Tournament was held.
