PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.. – Students from the Keiser University College of Golf received a true PGA TOUR experience as volunteers during The Honda Classic at PGA National Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. More than 50 Keiser University College of Golf students shared their time providing customer service within hospitality tents, conducting surveys for the National Golf Foundation and working behind the scenes in tournament operations as Rory Sabbatini won the event by one stroke.
“For anyone who loves golf, the PGA TOUR is an incredible experience and we’re very pleased to provide our students with a real hands-on education in the golf industry,” says John McMurray, vice president of Keiser University College of Golf. “Many of our student volunteers networked and made contacts that will greatly benefit them in their future careers, and others spent time at the driving range and the pitching/putting green watching the pros practice. Seeing these players in person allows you to truly appreciate how good these players are.”
McMurray also commented that one student collected over 25 autographs on a tournament flag – including last year’s Honda Classic champion, Camilo Villegas, and this year’s winner, Rory Sabbatini – and then donated the flag to hang in the halls of Keiser University College of Golf.
“That tournament flag is now a great symbol for other students attending Keiser University of how the college gives them a comprehensive learning experience that goes far beyond the classroom,” adds McMurray.
