PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.. – The nation’s largest golf college, Keiser University College of Golf is proud to announce it will sponsor junior golf tournaments at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, Fla., on April 16, 2011, and at Innisbrook Resort in Innisbrook, Fla., on May 28, 2011. Both events are part of the 2011 Florida Junior Tour (FJT) series of events by the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA).
“We’re very excited to encourage youth participation in the game of golf and to support our local communities in the great State of Florida,” says John McMurray, vice president of Keiser University College of Golf. “The Florida Junior Tour is well-known for providing affordable, high level competitions for all junior golfers. Regardless of whether these young players go on to great golf careers, or become teaching professionals, or just play the game with their friends and family, they are the future of our industry and the game.”
The Florida Junior Tour is for all junior golfers 13- to 18-years-old that have not graduated high school and started attending college. Tournaments holds tournaments at top courses across the state, and are primarily 36-hole events with fields up to 84 players (66 boys and 18 girls). The FJT was formed in 2004 by the Florida State Golf Association, one of the largest golf associations in the United States with more than 180,000 members and 400 volunteer committee members who serve as rules officials and course raters.
The Keiser University College of Golf – the golf industry’s newest educational facility – features a 20,000-square-foot facility includes a 1,500-square-foot indoor putting green, advanced launch monitor technology, TaylorMade MAT-T swing analysis system, an interactive golf simulator provided by ForeGolf powered by SIRGUL, and a golf club repair lab. Students also receive access to the highly acclaimed PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance where they can practice on a 35-acre lighted practice range, short game areas, bunker facility and extensive putting greens.
The College of Golf at Keiser University program prepares students for a variety of positions in the golf industry, from golf courses to professional golf schools.
