After-school golf enrichment program will impact west Wake County
Cary, NC – Paul Maskill, who spent the last four years in the finance industry after graduating from the University of Michigan, was ready for a career change and getting out of the cubicle of Corporate America. During a trip back home to Michigan, Paul read about TGA Premier Junior Golf in Entrepreneur Magazine, which recently ranked the youth development company as one of the “Top 10 Franchise Deals in the World”.
Maskill is now the new owner of a TGA Premier Junior Golf franchise in Cary, North Carolina. The nationally recognized after school golf enrichment program will impact the schools in West Wake County.
“I have been around golf my entire life from playing, working at golf facilities, to coaching high school golf. When I read about the TGA opportunity, I felt like it was my calling and a perfect career for me to be involved with. This is something I am passionate about, and working with youth teaching them not only a great game, but the life values and education concepts as well makes this all the more worthwhile,” said Maskill.
TGA Premier Junior Golf, one of the leading initiatives to grow the game of golf and the only national after-school golf enrichment program in the country, is one of the country’s most unique and fastest growing recreational programs for kids. It has also rapidly become a golden franchise opportunity for self-starters who enjoy working with children in a business venture that provides a unique entry into youth sports, education, and the golf industry.
“North Carolina has been a growing market for TGA programs with our Charlotte and Greensboro locations operating in over 125 schools and conducting 50 summer camps. We are very excited to have Paul join the TGA family of business owners,” said Joshua Jacobs, founder and CEO of TGA Premier Junior Golf. “His well-rounded business background coupled together with a passion for golf will translate to impacting the youth in West Wake County and growing the game by bringing affordable and accessible golf programs directly to area schools and golf courses through our five-level education based programs.”
TGA is the largest national after school program that teaches the fundamentals of the game of golf, its rules, etiquette, and life values, while promoting education for kindergarten students through the eighth grade. Since its inception in six Los Angeles schools in the fall of 2003, the premier junior golf program is now offered nationwide in 2,200 schools reaching 118,000 students from Kindergarten to 8th grade in 22 states.
The TGA enrichment curriculum, developed by PhDs in child and curriculum development, along with PGA and LPGA golf professionals, is a five-level program designed for kids to advance from one level to the next while building self-esteem as well as confidence in terms of education, life skills and character development. The steps also include teaching fundamental math, science, English, and history associated with the program.
“Golf is one of the only sports that you can play for your entire life. To be able to pass on the game that did so much for me in my life, to the youth of West Wake County is very gratifying,” said Maskill. “Most kids only start playing golf if their parents play. To be able to bring the game directly to them at school is such an innovative idea and will certainly impact the future of the golf industry. I am excited for the opportunity to be part of TGA, and to be able to impact and watch kids progress in their golf game and as a people.”
