Three lucky recipients play golf with LPGA’s Kristy McPherson
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., May 13, 2011 – The EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) third annual ‘Women Who Lead’ Awards recognized outstanding achievement of 10 EWGA chapter volunteer leaders.
The winners were honored during the 2011 EWGA Golfpalooza, previously known as the association’s annual conference, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Florida on April 13-16, 2011.
Three of the winners — Patsy Rice of Manakin Sabot, Virginia, Susan Burns of Davie, Florida and Terri Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio – won a drawing and played a round of golf with LPGA Tour player Kristy McPherson, the Honorary Chair of the 2010 ‘Women Who Lead’ Awards program.

Introduced in 2008, the EWGA ‘Women Who Lead’ Awards are designed to recognize outstanding performance and outstanding results among EWGA chapter volunteer leaders in 10 distinct categories. From nearly 250 nominations, 57 finalists were selected followed by the naming of the ten winners.
“These women exemplify the outstanding volunteer leadership that is the foundation for the success of our association,” says Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA. “Given the wealth of talents, achievements, leadership skills and passion for the EWGA; the selection process was indeed challenging. LPGA Tour and Solheim Cup player Kristy McPherson was diagnosed at age 11 with Still’s disease, a form of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and now serves on the board of the Arthritis National Research Foundation. She received a golf scholarship to the University of South Carolina, earning her degree in Sports and Entertainment management and SEC Player of the Year honors in 2003.Turning pro after graduation, Kristy played on the Duramed FUTURES Tour through 2006 and never missed a cut in 60 events. Competing on the LPGA Tour since 2007, she posted career-best ties for second at the 2009 Kraft Nabisco Championship and the Wegmans LPGA, and qualified as one of three rookies on the victorious 2009 U.S. Solheim Cup Team.
Since its founding in 1991 as the Executive Women’s Golf Association, the EWGA has touched the lives of more than 100,000 women by connecting women to learn, play, and enjoy golf for business and for fun. This tax-exempt association delivers a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers.
