(SHENZHEN, China) – Mission Hills has strengthened its commitment to developing golf in China with the announcement that Terence Tung and Iain Roberts have joined the senior management team.
Terence Tung, who joins Mission Hills as Executive Director, graduated from the University of Toronto in Canada before returning to Hong Kong to work in the field of media and publications as Executive Director of Ming Pao Magazines Limited, Chief Executive Officer of One Media Group (A listing Company in Hong Kong) and director of various subsidiaries of the group.
He was formerly the chairman of The Society of Publishers in Asia and, with more than 26 years of experience in the media industry, Tung has great insights into brand building, promotional campaigns, multi-platform sales and media promotions. He will increase the diversity of Mission Hills’ business by facilitating the club’s opportunities in the media industry. His global vision and deep-rooted media network enriches the club’s future developments with enormous values and opportunities.
Iain Roberts will join Mission Hills as Executive Director in charge of the club’s golf Academies expansion and development of international tournaments. With 36 years of golf industry experience, he played a variety of roles including a professional player, coach, golf writer, golf course designer and in senior management, including during his tenure at the Hong Kong Golf Club since 1995. With his extensive experience, he will actively improve the club’s business, management and operational standards.
Said Dr. Ken Chu, Executive Vice Chairman of Mission Hills Group: “Mission Hills has grown into a world-class brand and this is not only an affirmation of our past efforts, but a commitment to use international talent and more professional managers to further grow Mission Hills’ brand value. Mission Hills warmly welcomes Terence Tung and Iain Roberts, who, with their experience, will be valuable assets of Mission Hills on the road of development.”
Mission Hills has set a new standard in leisure, recreation and wellness experiences. It has combined golf, with international tournaments, global cuisine, hot springs spa, business training and shopping at destination resorts.
This initially took place in southern China in the early 1990s, when Dr. David Chu seized the opportunity of economic reform to invest in the barren land in Dongguan and Shenzhen and created Mission Hills Golf Club. In 2009, Mission Hills grew further and developed the Mission Hills Hainan facility.
With only 27 years of history in the modern development of golf in China, Mission Hills was one of the pioneers of the industry when it was formed. Now, Mission Hills has employees from more than 20 different countries and areas, forming a ‘United Nations’-type service team. Terence Tung and Iain Roberts will further enhance the group’s brand value and service standard.
