LAKE MARY, FL – It took Kit Mungo seven years to mold his non-traditional wedge into exactly what he had envisioned, and what the USGA would find conforming to the Rules Of Golf.
How did he do?
If the vote of attendees at the 21st Annual ING Spring Conference is any indication, he has created a winner.
Herbie’s One-Putt Wedge won the ING Conference Best honors in the Products category, determined by vote of conference attendees at this annual gathering of golf industry executives and media, conducted recently at Innisbrook Resort.
In the Publications category, the long-running Florida Golf Central Magazine was voted No. 1 by attendees.
The ING Spring Conference is conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf. This year over 60 members of the media representing an audience of approximately 8 million readers, viewers and listeners were in attendance alongside dozens of golf companies.
Any product or publication being represented at the ING Spring Conference is eligible to win the ING Conference Best award. Attendees voted throughout the week on the product and publication that they felt were best at the conference.
Herbie’s One-Putt Wedge features a deep, wide and flat sole, a unique double bend steel shaft, a hosel positioned behind the symmetrical black clubface, a white visual alignment aid positioned on the rear flange and weighted rods for heel and toe perimeter weighting. The club is meant to be used with a putting stroke, making those testy greenside chip and pitch shots much more comfortable.
The ING Conference Best honor for publications goes to a magazine based in Orlando that is the only statewide four-color glossy in Florida. It started publishing over a decade ago under the guidance of publisher Terrie Purdum. Editor Shannon Coates, managing editor Dave Daubert and executive editor Joel Jackson were in attendance at the conference.
