Singapore (July 1): Former world number one tennis super-star, Jimmy Connors will be attending the 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit.
In a telephone call from Wimbledon, where he was attending the 134th instalment of the tennis major, the American tennis legend said, “I am delighted to be invited to attend and speak at the 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit – it is an excellent opportunity for me to meet first hand a cross-section of the people who are driving the game of golf in a really exciting part of the world.”
Jimmy who played top-level tennis until he was 39 years is also a serious golfer who maintains a very respectable single-digit handicap. In a recent report published in the Washington Post, quoting a new study on tennis greats, Jimmy is ranked as the “greatest tennis player of all time”. According to the study, published this month in the scientific journal PloS ONE, Jimmy won 178 quality matches, more than any other player.
“We are really pleased to be able to bring out a sports super-star of the global stature of Jimmy and we know that he will make a hefty contribution towards the success of the 2011 Asia Pacific Golf Summit,” revealed Mike Sebastian, chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, owner and producer of the Summit.
