ORLANDO, Fla. (July 28, 2011) – Golfweek magazine – the most authentic, authoritative and independent voice in golf – today announced a partnership with Martin Golf LLC to expand the Golfweek Junior Tour into five additional states: Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Building upon its original offerings of 42 events across eight Western states, the Golfweek Junior Tour will now provide developing golfers in a new section of the country the opportunity to hone their skills while gaining valuable exposure and recognition on a national level. The new Midwest expansion – which will host its first tournament in West Lafayette, Ind., from Sept. 3-4 – will hold a total of 26 events throughout the fall and spring seasons, including a number of events at premier college golf venues.
“We are thrilled to be working with Martin Golf LLC to further expand the Golfweek Junior Tour,” said Armand Cimaroli, Golfweek’s director of events. “With the new Midwest branch of the tour, we’ll be able to help even more young players evolve into incredibly talented and focused competitors, which is really what this program is all about.”
In addition to offering valuable tournament experience, the Golfweek Junior Tour’s Midwest roster gives players ages 10-19 the opportunity to compete for exempt status on the AJGA Tour, the Callaway Junior World Qualifier, the Hudson Junior Invitational, the North and South Junior Amateur, the Golfweek Junior Tour Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz., and the Golfweek East and West Coast Junior Invitationals.
Membership and registration for the fall and spring seasons are now open. To learn more about the Golfweek Junior Tour, please visit www.GolfweekJuniorTour.com.
