Twelve aspiring professional golfers will journey to the Emerald Isle with hopes of putting their careers on the fast track when Golf Channel’s popularBig Break series returns for its 16th season, Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. The twists and turns will begin immediately after the competitors arrive in Ireland, when they will be assigned to six-person teams and will face off in the “Glass Break Challenge.” One contestant will be eliminated at the conclusion of the episode.
Big Break Ireland will feature an international cast of six men and six women competing against each other in an attempt to make their lifelong dreams of playing alongside the world’s top golfers a reality. Filmed at The K Club in Kildare, Ireland, the ultimate male or female winner will be awarded two exemptions from the four exemptions up for grabs – which represent events on the LPGA Tour, European Tour and Ladies European Tour – and more than $80,000 in cash and prizes, one of the most valuable prizes in the series’ 16-season history.

On Wednesday’s new episode of Golf in America, viewers will learn the story of how Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist Paul Szep and a $39 used putter helped professional golfer Jim Furyk win last year’s TOUR Championship. Golf in America will then travel to the hometown of Big Break’sTommy Gainey to see how his life has changed now that he has become a fixture on the PGA TOUR; and the show also will profile 17-year-old Mariah Stackhouse, who with her father/caddie by her side and the help of the Women in Golf Foundation, qualified for this year’s U.S. Women’s Open despite some remarkable hurdles.
