McIlroy, the first member of the Trion:Z Golf Staff to sport the Tao necklace, was in contention to capture his fourth career title. He started his final round five shots behind the leader but then he eagled the famed St. Andrew’s third hole. He was close to reaching the course record of 63 he set at the British Open when he uncharacteristically pulled a shot and couldn’t gain back a stroke in his final seven holes.
