Golf club’s community outreach program grants monthly donations to community service organizations; another step in making golf relevant to more players and society
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – As part of its recently launched Community Outreach Program, Tierra Rejada Golf Club in Moorpark, Calif. today presented a grant to Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® in West Los Angeles.
“With our new Community Outreach Program, this means that every round of golf played on our course helps a good cause,” said Ted Kruger, developer and co-owner of Tierra Rejada. “The economy has been rough on everyone, and especially for those service organizations that are the community’s glue. Since many get by on shoestring or shrinking budgets, we believe our grants can be leveraged into projects and services with great impact.”
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® is a non-profit organization offering one of the largest year-round recreational camping programs for children with cancer, and their families, in the nation. Camp brightens the lives of kids with cancer as they spend time outdoors-and away from the hospital-enjoying friendships, fun and adventures. Campers participate in activities such as arts and crafts, horseback riding, swimming, hiking and all the traditional activities of camp, modified to meet the special needs of these kids who share common bonds and experiences with other kids who have or have had cancer.
“We were thrilled when we learned that we had been selected by Tierra Rejada Golf Club as a gift recipient,” said Laurie Dubchansky, executive director of Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times®. “This donation will help us bring joy to many children and their families. We hope this is the start of a great relationship with Tierra Rejada.”
Tierra Rejada – “The Golf Course That Cares”
Along with the Community Outreach Program and as “The Golf Course That Cares,” Tierra Rejada Golf Club has launched several exciting initiatives within the past year, including:
• “The Players Course,” a 5,600-yard more forgiving and golfer-friendly version of the club’s challenging championship layout, created to make the sport fun and accessible to those of all abilities.
• Tierra Rejada Advanced Player Program, or TRAPP, an invitation-only work and golf related program of excellence for junior student-athletes that teaches course-management and decision-making skills.
• The Pro Shop at Tierra Rejada Golf Club is now stocking premium brand men’s and women’s golf apparel and accessories, at prices competitive with outlet stores.
Tierra Rejada is located in the Tierra Rejada Valley, at the mid-point between three cities, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Moorpark, at the Tierra Rejada exit of the 23 Freeway, just a 10-minute drive from Westlake Village. Designed by nationally renowned architect Bob Cupp – who also designed Pumpkin Ridge, Crosswater and Liberty National, among other modern classics – Tierra Rejada Golf Club opened in 1999. The course is well known for its natural beauty with stunning views of the Reagan Presidential Library, the finest grass practice range in the area, a pitching green surrounded by sand bunkers and two top-rate practice greens for chipping and putting.
Complementing The Pro Shop and its new line of premium apparel is TJ’s Grille, Tierra Rejada’s restaurant and sports bar, which presents first-class food and drink in a relaxed atmosphere where dining can be enjoyed inside by the warmth of a stone fireplace or on the outside patio, with a spectacular view of the Reagan Library. Featuring six large flat-screen televisions, patrons can always catch professional golf or the ballgame of the day with fellow fans at TJ’s Grille.

About Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times®
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® was founded in 1982 by a group of caring individuals who dreamed of a place where children who have had their lives devastated by childhood cancer could recapture what being a child is supposed to be.
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® programs have grown to provide year-round supportive programs serving families and children impacted by cancer. Camp is offered to any child-from infancy through high school graduation who has or had cancer, at any stage of illness or treatment-at no cost to their families. In addition, siblings of the patient and the parents of young cancer patients can also attend.
In 1994, with the purchase of a 60 acre, fully accredited campsite in the mountains near Idyllwild in Riverside County, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® took the first step in fulfilling its dream to create a barrier-free camp designed around the needs of the children it serves.
Whatever the prognosis, a cancer diagnosis interrupts childhood and hinders the experiences that lead to normal child development. At Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times®, these boys and girls recapture the hope, enthusiasm, and love of adventure that are essential parts of their youth. They blossom in the medically and psychologically safe environment that has been created especially for them.
