PHILADELPHIA, PA. (January 19, 2012)-In an effort to dispel the image that food at golf courses consists of wrinkled hot dogs and stale crackers, the Inside Golf television show on Comcast SportsNet is airing two special shows on golf course cuisine. The two model courses for golf course cuisine are Skippack Golf Club in Skippack, Pennsylvania and Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, New Jersey.
The first show will air beginning Sunday, January 22, and will feature the Farm House Restaurant at Skippack Golf Club. Located in the scenic Evansburg State Park, the Farm House Restaurant offers beautiful views of Zacharias Creek and Skippack Golf Course. The Farm House also features outside seating and weekly live entertainment in the summer.
After renovation of the historic farm house on the property, the restaurant made its debut at Skippack last year, featuring food made from only the freshest and finest local ingredients. Word spread quickly from the golfers to the surrounding communities and the Farm House Restaurant at Skippack GC has quickly established a strong reputation for outstanding food and comfortable surroundings.
The second show on golf course cuisine features Atlantic City Country Club and will air beginning January 29. The food reputation at Atlantic City Country Club has been stellar for years and serves as the example for all other golf courses.
Chef Ed Daggers at the Tap Room Bar & Grille at Atlantic City CC has a reputation for fine dining, as well as an excellent breakfast before a round of golf or a hearty lunch after 18 holes on one of America’s classic courses. A classy dinner, with magnificent views over Absecon Bay and looking beyond to the skyline of Atlantic City, could include anything from crab cakes, to the finest aged filets, to elegant veal dishes.
Part of Atlantic City Country Club’s reputation for extraordinary cuisine stems from its famous Sunday brunch. A favorite of locals and travelers from miles around, brunch is served all year, with the exception of a few weeks in winter. Inside Golf will take a close look at why the Tap Room Bar & Grille was rated one of the top 50 19th holes in Golf by Golf Digest.
“These two shows may be a bit of a departure for us but I guarantee the viewers will like them,” explained Inside Golf host Harry Donahue. “Not only will we take them from sand wedges to sandwiches and from bogeys to hoagies, but we will uncover some of the secret techniques of two of the finest chefs in the region. This will not be a show for anyone who started this new year by going on a diet.”
