WEST CHESTER, PA. (February 4, 2012) – The PGA Merchandise Show, the enormous trade show held in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, is the equivalent of the Super Bowl of the golf industry. Everyone who is anyone attends this annual trade show. This year, more than 40,000 PGA professionals, golf buyers and industry insiders visited the more than 1,000 vendors lining the walls of the cavernous convention center.
An event of such grand proportions deserves an equal amount of coverage. Inside Golf, the award-winning magazine-style television show now in its 15th year, is doing just that.
Beginning with Sunday, February 5 Inside Golf will be providing three full weeks of interviews, feature stories and product reviews from the PGA Merchandise Show.
“The PGA Show is one of the most amazing events you can imagine,” said Inside Golf producer Ken Selinger, who traversed the aisles of the mammoth hall to capture all of the sights and sounds. “It is almost too much for the camera to capture. Everywhere you turn there are celebrities and golf notables to interview. Each has a great story to tell. And the products are amazing. It is like the world’s largest toy store for adults.”
In the opening show, beginning February 5, Inside Golf host Harry Donahue will interview the world’s most acclaimed golf course architect, Tom Fazio; hold an instructional chat with the world’s most well-know instructor, David Leadbetter; portray a story of inspiration and determination with LPGA Tour hopeful Jessica Carafiello and explore the world of high-tech advancements in the aboutGolf simulator.
In the second show, slated to begin airing on February 12, there will be more scintillating interviews. Hank Haney, who is releasing a book about his experiences as teacher to Tiger Woods, talks about how Tiger has made it very clear that he did not appreciated the journalistic efforts. Dave Pelz, the short-game guru, talks about Phil Mickelson and all the work he has done with him. Annika Sorenstam talks about her new life, away from the LPGA Tour. And, for a fun segment Inside Golf takes a look at the latest advancements of the Yamaha golf car.
The final week of PGA Show coverage is packed with so much information the show has a special name. “Tony’s Top Twelve” returns for another year, as regular contributor Tony Leodora releases his renowned list of the dozen hottest products he saw the PGA Show. There are representatives from just about every category of product … and, as always, a few surprises. This show will begin airing on Sunday, February 26.
The PGA Merchandise Show also has been an annual testimonial to the success of Inside Golf. For the third year in a row the show received an award for excellence in golf television. This year’s award was an Outstanding Achievement Award from the International Network of Golf.
