ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. (March 12, 2012) – For the second year in a row the Atlantic City/ South Jersey Golf Courses are teaming up with Philadelphia’s award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show in a comprehensive effort to promote the area as one of America’s premier golf destinations. In the promotion each of the individual courses will be promoted as a must stop along the South Jersey Golf Trail. The promotion will run for nine months from March until the end of November this year.
Jim Fraser, one of the owners of Mays Landing Golf and CC, has been a firm believer in a unified effort to promote the Atlantic City area for some time. He was one of the founders of the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association, originally a group of eight golf courses that united a number of years ago in a common marketing effort. Fraser is now involved in trying to enlarge the alliance.
“We have an opportunity to bring a lot of parties together and work toward marketing the Greater Atlantic City area as a great golf destination,” said Fraser. “The product is certainly there. We have some of the greatest golf courses in the country. And we have a great restaurant and entertainment scene to back it up.”
Commercials for Atlantic City as a golf destination are already underway on the GolfTalk Live radio show on WNTP 990-AM in Philadelphia. Throughout the summer, the Greater Atlantic City area, its golf courses and its golf-related amenities will be the focal point of a promotional campaign on the GolfTalk Live radio show. The award-winning show and its host, Tony Leodora, will dedicate a segment of each show throughout the summer to happenings at the Jersey Shore. In addition a series of live remote broadcasts will take place from many of the impressive courses in the area.
“The constant message from all of these reports and live remote broadcasts is directed toward golfers, getting them to think golf first when they think about the Atlantic City area,” said Leodora. “When golfers think of Myrtle Beach or Ocean City, Maryland, they think of golf first. That’s what needs to happen in the Atlantic City area and the different entities seem focused on spreading that message.”
Live remote broadcasts have already been scheduled for some of the courses. Blue Heron Pines GC will kick things off, hosting a show that airs on June 9, followed by Mays Landing Golf and CC (June 16), Cape May National (June 23), Seaview Resort (June 30), Harbor Pines (July 7), The Links at Brigantine Beach (July 14), Sea Oaks (July 21), Sand Barrens (August 4), Twisted Dunes (August 11) and Atlantic City CC (Sept. 29).
“We are excited for another year of promotion,” says Charles Fahy, Director of Operations for Atlantic City CC, which also hosts the season-ending golf tournament for GolfTalk Live listeners. “We want to get the word out about Atlantic City as a top golf destination, and I believe this is the way to do it.”
The GolfTalk Live radio show, hosted by Tony Leodora, is the award-winning weekly radio show that again was named No. 1 Golf Radio Show in America by the International Network of Golf at the recent PGA Merchandise Show. It was the third time in four years GolfTalk Live took the award. The show airs 52 weeks a year from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on WNTP 990-AM and on www.wntp.com, GolfTalk Live also can be heard any time following each show on its official website, www.golftalklive.net.
