Stafford, VA – In support of the PGA of America’s Golf 2.0 initiative, the Middle Atlantic PGA (MAPGA) is taking golf on campus at Virginia Tech University on April 20, 2012. From 12:00pm to 4:00pm, the MAPGA will be a part of Virginia Tech’s annual “Spring Family Weekend” of festivities which attracts over 30,000 attendees.
An inflatable hitting tent and MAPGA’s own GolfZilla will be set up on Duck Pond Field where students, parents and family members alike can experience golf without actually being on a golf course. To enhance the experience, PGA Golf Professionals will also be on hand to promote the “fun factor” of golf and provide basic instruction.
“The time is now for the golf industry to think alternatively about bringing golf to the masses,” says MAPGA Executive Director Jon Guhl. “Our relationship with PGA Professional and Virginia Tech Men’s Golf Coach Jay Hardwick has opened the door for us to take advantage of this great opportunity and reach a whole new group of potential golfers.”
