PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – April 24, 2012 – The National Women’s Golf Alliance (NWGA), with the mission to increase the number of women playing golf, and improve engagement levels of existing women golfers, has launched its website at www.nationalwomensgolfalliance.com
Comprised of four of the nation’s most highly respected women’s golf organizations — the EWGA, Golf for Cause LLC, Jan Bel Jan Golf Course Design, and Ladies Links Fore Golf, LLC (LL4G), with LPGA Hall of Fame member Nancy Lopez as national spokeswoman — the NWGA has established a base of standards and best practices to help make golf facilities become more welcoming and attractive to women and enhance golf’s overall appeal to women. The Alliance expects to begin offering its Rolling out the Green Carpet™ course evaluations in May.
“We have developed a tangible way to measure performance in each of five areas — course playability, customer service, course amenities, facility amenities and golf programs. This gives golf course operators an objective, cost effective guide to determine how well a course delivers the women’s golf experience, ” says Lynn Stellman, CEO Ladies Links Fore Golf. “What we are advocating is not new or radical. What is a first, is the bringing together of four well regarded women’s golf organizations to speak as a united voice to promote positive action.”
Participating facilities that meet NWGA evaluation standards will receive a Rolling out the Green Carpet™ designation, and will be promoted by NWGA as NWGA-certified golf facilities. In addition to course evaluations, the NWGA™ offers consulting, staff training, course design and redesign, and other services to assist facilities in attracting and retaining women golfers.
“It gives me great pleasure to partner with NWGA in our efforts to encourage more women to play and stay in the game, ” says Nancy Lopez, a 48 time winner on the LPGA Tour, LPGA Hall of Fame member and NWGA spokeswoman. ” Golf is a game I have loved my entire life and I always have wanted women to have equal opportunities to truly enjoy the game.”
The National Women’s Golf Alliance is a grass-roots effort by women to bring an even better golf experience to women. Its goals are to guide golf facilities to better meet the needs of their female customers, while enhancing their bottom line revenues and to educate consumers on how golf courses are welcoming women and recognizing those that do it well.
