Alexandria, VA – May 1, 2012 – The National Alliance for Accessible Golf (Alliance) announces the establishment of an official Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will serve as a complement to the Alliance’s governing Board of Directors. It will be comprised of a maximum of 12 individuals from the academic, corporate, cultural, disability, golf and political communities and will be co-chaired by the Alliance President. The Advisory Board selection was finalized and approved during the December 2011 Board of Directors meeting.
The following individuals have been appointed to serve on the inaugural National Alliance for Accessible Golf Advisory Board effective May 1, 2012:
• Judy Alvarez, LPGA/PGA Teaching Professional and Accessible Golf Program Specialist
• Jim Baugh, Sports Industry Consultant and member of the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association Board
• Beth Brown, Ph.D., LPGA, Director, Curriculum and Research, The First Tee
• Jim Estes, PGA Professional, Salute to Military Golf Association Co-Founder
• Aron Hall, Director of Services, National Inclusion Project
• Jim McElya, Chairman and CEO, Cooper Standard Automotive
• Tammy Smith, Coordinator of Outreach and Engagement, Director – Global Accessibility Initiative (GAI), Penn State University
• Donna Strum, CTRS, Executive Director, RevelationGolf
The role of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf Advisory Board will be to provide both expertise and guidance in all aspects of the Alliance’s business and strategic priorities, while also serving as a sounding board as the Alliance continues to grow and evolve. Members will offer expert counsel and insight in their respective areas and will assist the Board of Directors and the Alliance staff in future growth and long -term success in optimizing opportunities for the Alliance’s mission, to increase participation of people with disabilities in the game of golf through awareness, education, training initiatives and program funding.
The National Alliance for Accessible Golf is a charitable organization working to ensure the opportunity for all individuals to play the game of golf. The Alliance is represented by major golf organizations in the United States, organizations that provide services for people with disabilities and other advocates. Through GAIN™ (Golf: Accessible and Inclusive Networks) and other programs, the Alliance promotes inclusion and awareness to the golf industry, golf instructors, and the public.
